Bolandgymnasiet
Bolandgymnasiet is a large Upper Secondary School offering a wide
range of programmes to approximately 1500 students. Bolandgymnasiet
is a vital and dynamic school providing vocational training, aesthetic
education and academic skills. We also put emphasis on computational
and data processing skills.
All programmes cover three years during which the students attain
an academic level sufficient for entry into higher education facilities.
During their third year the students also have the opportunity
of changing direction towards a Social Science Programme, which
will qualify them for higher education with special eligibility
requirements in Mathematics, English, Natural science, Civics,
History and Geography. In International culture classes the pupils
learn about different cultures and are also given opportunities
to take part in our exchange programmes with among others, Italy,
Poland and China.
Bolandgymnasiet is also considered a leading school in the field
of remedial classes. Options are designed to meet the educational
needs of each student. Professional staff members provide individualized
remedial teaching for students with learning disabilities. The
school is also a pioneer in applying flexible learning methods.
We are performing experiments towards an ”electronic school” and
we give courses using methods applying modern groupware techniques
over local area networks, modem connections and Internet.
The school offers a variety of theatrical events and also an
annual musical production in which students from different programmes
such as carpenters, painters, dressmakers etc are invited to
take part. Musical events are often scheduled throughout the
school year and students also organize exhibitions where sketches,
paintings and other work are displayed at the school.
The employer and the unions have come to a local agreement implying
that teachers work together in teams in each programme. These
teaching teams organize their instructional approaches together
and share the responsibility for planning and economy.
